But how easy is it to make a living from this dream job and is it still a meaningful business model for founders today?

In the following, I will investigate this question, give a tip and answer the question of whether I would start blogging again today.

Will Blogging Still Be A Useful Business Model In The Future?

I have already explained in detail in an article that blogging is a business model. Nothing has fundamentally changed in that regard, since blogging fulfills all aspects of a business model.

Since then, much interesting marketing and earning instruments have even been added, which enables bloggers to grow and make money even better.

Examples in Germany and especially abroad also show that blogging can be a living, and not bad.

But is that just the tip of the iceberg? Is blogging still worthwhile as a business model for beginners today?

A while ago I received a question from a reader by email. He reacted with concern to a statement by an expert who said that all interesting and popular business areas on the net are already saturated.

Blogs were also mentioned and so the reader asked himself whether starting a new blog is still worthwhile and whether it can still be made successful today.

My answer is of course not that simple and certainly not valid for everyone and everything. I don't have statistics on successful and failed blogs. But I am not a fan of such statements that everything is already gone and you can no longer be successful. That’s just wrong.

Certainly, there is hardly a mainstream topic that has not already been dealt with by many bloggers. Nevertheless, it is precisely good founders who discover areas in which there are opportunities.

So you can ...

• Usually, do it better and find a slightly different approach to differentiate yourself from the existing blogs.
  
  
• Always find new topics in which there are no established blogs.
  
  
• Discover niche topics that may not interest millions of people, but still, offer enough potential and where there is no such strong competition.

So it's usually not about finding something 100% new. But on the other hand, you shouldn't just do the same thing as the existing blogs.

Success Factors For New Blogs

If you are starting a new blog today, you should check the 3 important success factors that also apply to other types of websites.

These are:

1. Search Volume
   Of course, you should look for a topic for your blog that interests a certain number of people. After all, you need interested readers.

2. Competitor
   The competition in the chosen topic should not be too high. It gets tough when you compete against very large, old, and established blogs.

3. Financial Potential
   For it to be a meaningful business model, you should also be able to earn money with it. There should be as many sources of income as possible for the chosen topic.

But these are not all important factors for a successful blog. There are also a few important requirements:

• Passion
  You should have a passion for the chosen topic. This is the only way to write regularly on the topic for many years.
  
  
• Endurance
  As a rule, you cannot reach 100,000 visitors per month in 6 months. It takes longer and you often only write for a few readers at first. Here it is important to persevere, continue and stay on the ball. Most bloggers give up, the successful ones don't.
  
  
• Enjoy Writing
  As a blogger, you will write a lot. That's why you should like to write, even if it is a little difficult at the beginning. It was the same for me.
  
  
• Commercial Skills
  A successful blog requires more than just writing articles. Marketing, sources of income, networking, accounting, and more are required here, as with any founder.

Would I Start Blogging All Over Again Today?

This is an exciting question, but also not that easy to answer. After all, I have a completely different base of experience and knowledge today than I did then.

If I had as many experiences today as I did then, I would probably start again in a similar way. So don't be a real blogger right away, but build a blog on the side. Sure, I would use social networks and other media such as videos more today, but basically, I would similarly build my blog.

With the experience I have gathered in the meantime, I would start a little differently today. I would still start a blog, but from the start, I would create niche websites in parallel, start a YouTube channel and, for example, create my products relatively quickly, e.g. eBooks. In addition, I would concentrate 100% on blogging or the other projects mentioned and not first try my luck as a web designer or something similar.

My wealth of experience would therefore strongly influence my approach today so that I would proceed differently than back then. But the focus would still be on a blog (or several) because I just love to write. For me, blogging is the perfect business model, but it's also much more than just writing.

Conclusion

A blog is certainly not the fastest and most stress-free way to make money on the Internet.

There may be other ways on the Internet to get money faster, even if there are no guarantees of success anywhere and a lot of work always has to be invested.

And a blog is certainly not the right business model for everyone. But for those who meet the requirements, in my opinion, this is still a sensible business model today.
