To give you a feeling for what is possible for YouTubers, I evaluate a survey on the Youtube income in the following.
I also give my opinion on this and aim for parallels to my blog.

Officially, there are no reliable figures on the earnings of YouTubers. There are only a few intake reports and interesting examples from which you can learn something.
Still, it would be interesting to know what the masses of YouTubers deserve. That's why I started a survey here on the blog a while ago, where I asked exactly that.
Participants were able to choose from some possible answers that represented different income margins. In this way, an interesting distribution of income among YouTubers was determined.
Most Of Them Don't Make Any Money On YouTube
A total of 263 readers took part in the survey. You can see the result below:
How much do you earn on YouTube per month on average?
- Nothing at all (31%, 81 votes)
- I am not active on YouTube. (27%, 72 votes)
- Less than 10 euros (11%, 30 votes)
- Between 10 and 50 euros (8%, 21 votes)
- More than 2000 euros (7%, 19 votes)
- Between 50 and 100 euros (3%, 9 votes)
- Between 1000 and 2000 euros (3%, 8 votes)
- Between 100 and 200 euros (2%, 6 votes)
- Between 400 and 700 euros (2%, 6 votes)
- Between 200 and 400 euros (2%, 6 votes)
- Between 700 and 1000 euros (2%, 5 votes)
Number of participants: 263 (1 vote)
Apart from those who are not active on YouTube at all (27% of the survey participants), the “non-earners” make up the largest proportion. After all, 31% do not earn any money with their videos. Now, of course, it is often the case that that is not the goal at all. Other goals, such as marketing measures, community building, or just the fun of creating videos can have priority.
Nevertheless, there will certainly be several YouTubers among them who would like to make money but cannot make it. With a few subscribers and just a few video views, this is more or less impossible, especially since you now have to have a minimum of 10,000 views across your channel to take advantage of monetization. So new YouTubers have to wait before placing ads in their videos.
Another 11% earn less than 10 euros per month. These are channels that are still at the very beginning and that also take up relatively little. But it is a beginning and especially at the beginning, it depends much more on the generally positive development of the channel and not whether you earn a few euros more or less.
You can see the other stages above. Of course, the answer variant “More than 2,000 euros” stands out in particular. 7% chose this, which I think is quite a lot. To earn 2,000 euros a month with YouTube, you have to have very good views. However, it must also be said that you cannot make money with YouTube advertising in your videos alone. On the contrary, many YouTubers earn more money with other sources of income, such as affiliate marketing or sponsoring.
With these additional opportunities to earn money with your videos, it is possible to generate very decent income even with not-so-large YouTube channels.
Many YouTubers earn a decent income, which is more of an additional income and not a basis on which to live. For example, 8% earn between 10 and 50 euros, while another 3% earn between 50 and 100 euros per month. Here, however, it is not just a question of the absolute values, but how they develop. If there is a steady increase, then you are on the right track. If, on the other hand, income has stagnated at this level for a long time, then you should fundamentally consider what you could do differently.
Earning Money On YouTube Is Possible, But Not Easy
You can safely break the result of the survey down to this statement. You can still build a successful YouTube channel today, but it's not a sure-fire success.
It takes patience and a lot of work into your videos and marketing to get more subscribers. It's similar to my blogs. Even at Selbststaendig-im-Netz.de, everything started very slowly and I blogged more or less on my own for the first few months. Gradually the number of visitors increased and I was able to earn the first euros. But that was pocket money at first and only slowly it got more.
Over time my blog income increased and now I can make a living from it. I am still reaping the fruits of the work that I have invested in the first few years.
Perseverance And Stamina For YouTubers
If you want to be successful on YouTube, you need perseverance and perseverance in addition to a good idea and great content.
In the first few months (often the first year or two) you will only have low subscriber numbers and video views. These will increase slowly, but that will take time. Of course, that also depends on the topic, the videos, and your marketing activities. For example, if you already have a successful blog or have a lot of fans on Facebook, you will grow faster on YouTube.
Either way, it will take a long time before YouTube earnings are more than just pocket money. But it is possible, and the fact that most will give up at some point should motivate them to persevere.
In any case, I am very happy that 10 years ago I regularly published articles here on the blog, even if there were only a few visitors and hardly any income. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to make a living from my blogs and websites today.
This is exactly how it works on YouTube. Only those who invest time and work today will benefit from it in a few years and maybe even be able to live from their videos.
What Are Your Experiences With YouTube?
I would of course be very interested in your experiences with YouTube. Have you ever tried to set up a YouTube channel and how did it go? Did you earn money with it or gave up at some point? What are your main problems?
I look forward to your feedback and maybe this will lead to ideas for new articles.
