The website or blog may be quite new or in a thematic niche that is not that big.

Strong competition can also be a reason why you don't get a lot of visitors.

Many just don't have enough content yet for many visitors to come from Google.

Whatever the reason for the low traffic, many website owners find it very difficult to make money from it.

Reasons for not having enough money

Website or blog operators with low visitor numbers usually also approach monetization incorrectly. You are simply taking the wrong approach.

The installation of advertising banners or Google AdSense is in most cases not the right approach for websites with little traffic. Both sources of income are very traffic-dependent. This means that these will only bring in good money if you have a really large number of visitors.

It is not uncommon for advertising banners that you get less than one euro for every 1,000 banner views. Even with 10,000 page views per month, it is usually only a few euros.

It looks a little better with Google AdSense. If you've optimized the ads and placed them well, maybe 2% of visitors click on an AdSense banner. And if you still have reasonably good click payments, you might get 10 euros for 1,000 visitors. Of course, this depends on the topic, but even here you usually don't earn that much with little traffic. Especially since 3% is a very good value for the click rate, often it is less than 1%.

So these two sources of income are not suitable for low-traffic websites.

Instead, you have to approach monetization differently.

Suitable Sources Of Income For Little Traffic

There are sources of income with which you can earn good money even with a few visitors.

For the vast majority, affiliate marketing is a very good option for generating a decent income. You don't need that many visitors here to earn very good commissions. However, you have to be very careful when selecting the affiliate programs and the products advertised.

The affiliate program and the products advertised must optimally suit the visitors to your website. You have to know their needs and concerns and then offer optimal solutions in the form of affiliate links. Then you will earn a very good income even with a few visitors.

Having your product is also a great way to earn money. However, this requires a little more effort, because you should have a good reputation, e.g. to sell your eBook.

But you can also do it if you only have a relatively small website. Here, too, you must offer the perfect solutions for the worries, problems, and wishes of the target group.

The Right Target Group Is Crucial!

The target group is a very important factor, especially if you have relatively little traffic on your website. Unfortunately, most of them proceed differently and prefer mass over class.

But first and foremost it depends on the right readers. These are the readers who have exactly the need or problem that you are addressing with your website and your source of income.

100 correct readers are therefore better than 1,000 wrong readers. So if you offer an affiliate product for blemishes, 100 teenagers with pimples are better than 1,000 visitors looking for anything else.

Above all, you can find the right readers with the right content. Write about the questions and problems of the target group, because this is exactly what Google searches for.

But you shouldn't rely on Google alone. Reader loyalty is particularly important for small websites. Newsletters are particularly suitable for this.

This allows you to bind the right target group to you and reach it at any time. A good mailing list is worth its weight in gold.

Optimization

Last but not least, it comes down to optimization. So don't just add the affiliate link and then forget it. Instead, it is important to test the placement and type of affiliate advertising material and find out which one is clicked on most often and which one causes the most conversions.

For example, you could test whether an affiliate link or an affiliate banner is clicked more often. Or does it provide completely different advertising material for even more clicks and sales?

You can only get the most out of it by optimizing, and this is particularly important for small websites with little traffic.

In general, you shouldn't be too hesitant about the sources of income. These should be built in at least partially in the immediately visible area and you should integrate more than just one affiliate link or link to your product per page/article.

In the newsletter, too, you should not just present your product or an affiliate offer once, but keep your interests in mind through regular mailings and follow-up measures.

Making a good income from a small website is certainly not easy, but it is possible.

If you optimally coordinate the content, the target audience, and the sources of income, then you can be successful and generate good income.
