Especially since this industry is not easy. It sometimes takes a long time to get started and the competition can be diverse.

So if you choose this path, you should love writing.

Blog

Your blog is one of the most common ways to publish your content on the Internet. It's quick and easy.

Whether you can make a living from it or earn money with it is another matter.

As my monthly reports show, again and again, it takes a lot of perseverance, work, know-how, and a little luck to build a successful blog. The vast majority of blogs don't get enough readers to generate a really good income.

I can now make a living from my blogs and even hire an employee. But it took many years to get to this point. You can certainly be successful faster, but it is by no means easy.

Your blog offers a lot of potentials, but it is also a tedious and time-consuming task. But since the content belongs to you, you can still use it and benefit from it years later.

Websites

In contrast to a blog, you don't publish new content on your websites that regularly. Often these are also more specialized and you have many of them.

There are, for example, many self-employed people on the Internet who make a living from affiliate websites or niche sites. I have had very good experiences with the latter in particular, and in my niche site development e-book I describe how to build such niche sites and earn money.

However, one should bear in mind that depending on the type of website, sometimes the focus is no longer on writing texts, but rather on other tasks. This is not necessarily right for everyone.

With websites, you can make money by writing without usually needing as many visitors as blogs.

Author

Getting active as a writer is another way to make money writing. You keep hearing about Kindle bestsellers on Amazon, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.

It is also not easy to earn a lot of money here, even if the potential due to the reach of Amazon and Co. is of course much greater than with your blog.

At the beginning of the year, I published my eBook, which, however, cannot be bought in a large online shop. Instead, I sell it myself and can still be very satisfied with the income.

Writing your eBook can be lucrative, but it takes to reach to market it. Then a well-running eBook can be a permanent source of income.

Copywriter

Writing texts for customers is another way of making money by writing. There are a lot of platforms to choose from.

Services such as Rankseller *, Ranksider *, or Bloggercontent.de make it possible to write articles and get paid for them.

But it is also possible to write articles that are completely detached from your websites. Many online publications offer fees for texts.

In contrast, you write on textbroker.de, content.de, and Co. for many different clients and receive remuneration based on the quality and length of the texts.

Setting up your text service takes time, but you are independent and can build up a customer base.

A copywriter is a pure contractor. Once you've made a name for yourself and gained regular customers, you can earn quite well. However, you only benefit from the texts once.

An Example

I recently came across an income report listing a blogger's writing income.

The income comes from online platforms that pay for the creation of texts. Including the already mentioned platforms Textbroker and Ranksider.

It is noticeable that the highest income comes from a writing job that was mediated via texterjobboerse.de.

Unfortunately, the author does not write about how many hours he had to invest in total. Then you could better assess whether it is worth it at all.

Conclusion

There are different ways to make money writing online.

However, none of these alternatives are quick and easy. Instead, to be successful, you have to invest a lot of time and have fun.

I prefer to publish my texts on my blogs/websites or to write my eBooks. If you only write for others, you are a pure service provider who cannot build anything permanent.

As a blogger, I still make money today with texts that I wrote years ago. If, as a pure copywriter, I don't write new articles, I won't make any more money.

That is why you are more independent with your own blogs/websites / eBooks and your own business sometimes survives an illness.
