LifePoints: One Platform Emerged from Two (Mysurvey & Global Test Market)

| Experience with Lifepoints - Serious or Flop? |
Anyone who has been involved in filling out surveys for a long time will have noticed that LifePoints was created from the merger of two other survey providers - MySurvey and Global Test Market.
The merger took place a little more than a year ago in February 2019. Since then, the two survey platforms MySurvey and Global Test Market have been history. But what does that mean for the new LifePoints platform - has it gotten better or worse? We have tested the whole thing very carefully.
An (Almost) Smooth Transition
The merger of the two predecessor platforms to form the LifePoints Panel went relatively smoothly in the eyes of many long-term users of the two survey portals and has led to some positive innovations:
- There are now also “consolation points” for surveys for which one is not admitted and not just tickets for competitions.
- Fortunately, the payout limit has been lowered so that you can now make a payout from 5 euros. That's pretty good compared to the competition.
- Most of the existing user profiles from the two previous portals have been adopted and can still be used at LifePoints.
- In some cases, however, there were also technical profiles and bugs, whereby existing users were deleted from the database (and their profiles could often no longer be restored). Some points already collected on the previous platforms were lost.
- In general, one can say that LifePoints is based more on its predecessor MySurvey due to its features - but this is considered positive by most users.
The LifePoints Reward System
This brings us straight to the system of how profits can be made when completing paid surveys at LifePoints:
- For filling out surveys, you will be rewarded on the platform with - who should be surprised - “LifePoints”. After a certain number of points, these points can be converted into cash or prizes.
- There are not quite as many rewards to be found as there were with the predecessor MySurvey. Nevertheless, you can still choose from various vouchers, for example for Amazon or other online shops.
- Since rewards are valued very differently, you can never say exactly how much 1 LifePoint is worth. But if you want to have cash paid out in the end, you can expect 1,100 points to correspond to around one euro.
- For each successful completion of a survey, you will be rewarded with around 500 to 1,500 points, which corresponds to approx. 0.5 to 1.50 euros.
- Even for surveys that you cannot take part in due to demographic or other criteria, you will receive a consolation prize of 2 to 3 points. However, given the current value of the points, that is not exactly worth it.
Note: New users receive a welcome bonus of 10 points at LifePoints, which, however, corresponds to just 1 cent - not impressive.
Background to the Company Behind LifePoints
LifePoints is by no means a “little fish”, but is operated by the well-known market research institute Light Speed and belongs to the international Kantar Group. This in turn is part of the WPP Group, which, with its numerous sub-divisions, is regarded as the second largest market research company in the world.
The majority of the paid surveys for the German market at LifePoints come from the British institute Taylor Nelson Sofres, although a few other survey sources have now been added thanks to the merger with Global Test Market.
So there is a huge “conglomerate” behind LifePoints, which at least suggests that it is not a small, dubious provider. On the other hand, the companies behind LifePoints don't exactly stand for “premium surveys”, but try to carry out serious but low-paid surveys for their customers.
Does It Work with the Payouts?

In principle, the payout limit for LifePoints is 5,500 points, the equivalent of around 5 euros, rather low compared to other survey providers - which is good. After a few weeks everyone should have the necessary account balance and can apply for a payout - but does it work reliably?
In our experience, we were able to exchange the LifePoints we had collected for material prizes without any problems, which we could then use outside the platform.
Unfortunately, we have also heard from many users for whom this did not go so smoothly and who had bad LifePoints experiences: Their points were arbitrarily blocked or their account balance was suddenly decimated. We can only hope that this has something to do with the initial technical problems with the platform, which is still quite new.
Experience with Lifepoints: Can You Earn Money with Them?
Let's work out whether you can earn good money with LifePoints and how much time you would need for it.
We have seen that you can receive around 50 cents to 1.50 euros, in the best case one time, 2 euros per survey. If you consider that many surveys usually take longer than a few minutes, but up to an hour or more, then the whole thing quickly becomes unprofitable: Who would want to work for an hourly rate of 2 euros or less?
In addition, the range of paid surveys on the platform is (still) relatively modest. Anyone who can fill out two surveys a day has been very lucky. In our experience, it was more like 2 to 4 surveys per week that we could take part in. So is it worth it?
Well, a simple calculation shows that this is not the case: Let's assume that we can complete two surveys of 1.50 euros per day (which is rather unrealistic). That would then lead to an income of 21 euros per week or 84 euros per month.
To earn this, we would have to spend two hours a day filling out surveys - every day of the week for a month. We believe there are certainly better ways to make money on the internet and get paid more than 2 euros an hour.
Are Paid Surveys Worthwhile at LifePoints? Our Conclusion
In our experience and to judge that of many others, it is generally extremely difficult to make money with paid surveys on the Internet. Our LifePoints experiences have not changed anything - on the contrary:
To be able to earn money with LifePoints, one would have to be able to complete a large number of surveys per day. However, due to the limited number of daily surveys, this is not even possible - if you get 2 surveys per day, you can count yourself lucky.
So it is not difficult to calculate that with 2 surveys per day with a maximum of 2 euros per survey, you cannot achieve a high income - 60 euros per month is already the highest of feelings.
It can even take a while to reach the payout threshold of 5 euros - and that says a lot about the income potential of LifePoints.
Even if there are better survey providers with slightly higher payout percentages such as LifePoints, filling out online surveys is never really lucrative - and we recommend that most clever people look around for a more attractive online income.
We have already addressed a few possible ideas for a good income on the Internet in previous articles. We can also highly recommend that you take a look at the product tests on our website: Here you can test exclusive new products from renowned companies such as Microsoft or Bosch and you will be paid for them - and that is a lot better than filling out paid surveys.
FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions About LifePoints
Is LifePoints a Reputable Provider?
Even if LifePoints, like many providers, does not pay a lot of money for paid surveys, the platform can still be described as serious. The company behind LifePoints is known and widely accepted in the market research industry and would jeopardize its business with dubious practices.
Does LifePoints Sell My Personal Information?
No, you don't have to worry about that. LifePoints does not use your personal information for marketing purposes but evaluates your information anonymously. Your e-mail and your name will only be used for internal communication and for managing your profile.
A breach of these strict data protection requirements in market research would be investigated by the Council of German Market and Social Research and could quickly endanger LifePoints.
Is Completing Online Surveys a Waste of Time?
According to our LifePoints experience, one might think that online surveys are a complete waste of time for most - and in our opinion, this is also the case in most cases. There are many ways to use your time on the Internet more sensibly and to earn good additional income.
After all, filling out online surveys is not risky and you only lose a few hours of your time. However, we encourage you to look for other potentially interesting options for earning money online as well.
