10 Tips To Increase Your Blog Income - Part 1 - Many bloggers know this situation. You write new content, increase the number of visitors and generate income in the first place.

Nevertheless, you come to a point where the income does not increase further for the time being, even if the number of visitors and the number of articles continue to rise.

I have also experienced this situation here on the blog in recent years and learned that you cannot reach the maximum in income that quickly.

Therefore, today I would like to give you 10 tips on how to further increase your blog income.

10 Tips To Increase Your Blog Income

10 Tips To Increase Your Blog Income - Part 1

I have put the following tips together from my own experience with “Self-employed in the Net” and other blogs.

All 10 tips mustn't be implemented blindly. Instead, it is better if you apply the ideas and tips to your situation and, above all, test a lot.

Only then will they develop their full effect.

#1 New Sources Of Income

Obvious of course, the tip is that you should use other sources of income.

In my monthly evaluations of the income of German blogs, I repeatedly find that some blogs only use 1 or 2 sources of income.

In my most recent evaluation of 19 German blogs, for example, I found that 4 blogs only use 2 different sources of income and thus give away hard cash.

That is not to say that you now build in all the sources of income that you can find indiscriminately, but you should just test how new sources of income are made and what you can earn with them.

By the way, my income is currently composed of the 4 sources of income affiliate marketing, direct marketing, paid articles, and AdSense. For the future, I plan to have one or two other sources of income.

#2 Optimize Existing Sources Of Income

My second tip concerns the existing sources of income.

Too many bloggers quickly put in an AdSense banner and also slam a few affiliate links on their pages and then wait for the big money.

The rule, however, is that only through a lot of testing and optimization can you maximize the individual sources of income.

You can see this very nicely on Google AdSense, for example. This is a source of income that is very easy and quick to install. However, without optimization, this will only bring a fraction of the possible income.

In the article “15 Google AdSense Tips for More Clicks and Higher Click Prices” I described many of the tips I use to optimize AdSense.

This enabled me to increase my income in the past and I have more than tripled my AdSense income in the past few months.

It is often worth exchanging individual sources of income, e.g. because one affiliate program works better / yields more than another.

#3 Fewer Sources Of Income

That may sound strange at first, but your income often increases if you use less of it.

This applies, for example, to AdSense, where you can incorporate several ad units, but the click prices can drop as a result. Because many visitors then click on the “cheap” AdSense ads.

I used to have the same phenomenon. As I used fewer AdSense blocks, AdSense earnings increased.

But it can also be that certain sources of income erode others. That is why you should always test new sources of income (tip 1), but make sure that existing sources of income do not suffer as a result.

And it can also make sense to replace an existing source of income with a new one. That was the case with me, for example, when I introduced direct marketing.

#4 Less Distraction

This tip is not easy to implement.

In general, when making money, you should make sure that as little as possible is distracted from the sources of income.

This is especially true for some, such as AdSense or affiliate marketing. There it is important to generate as many clicks as possible to maximize the income.

Therefore you should try in your blog to have good content for the reader in the center but to place the sources of income from the attention right behind it and not to distract from it with other elements.

In the last few years that was an important aspect of my layout revision here on self-employed in the net. The article and the user experience have always come first, but after that I want certain revenue streams to be noticed by the reader.

In my experience, after a layout revision, I keep working on small elements, implementing new ideas and this increases the distraction. That's why I'm planning to revise the layout again this fall to make the layout of Self-employed on the Internet a bit clearer.

#5 Adjust layout

This point is closely related to the previous one.

Layout plays an important role in monetizing a blog.

Again and again, I see bloggers building e.g. AdSense into the sidebar or at the bottom of the blog. The situation is similar with banner spaces etc.

You should be aware that the placement of banners and links has a decisive influence on revenue. If you don't place your AdSense banner in the sidebar, but directly in the article text, you can easily multiply your income.

Advertisers would much prefer to book a banner space if it is immediately visible after loading a page. That's why I created a space for a banner in the header, for example, and also built a banner space at the top of the articles.

In addition, advertisers are then also willing to pay more. Some advertising networks even require an installation of the banner “Above the Fold”, ie in the immediately visible area.

The placement of banners and links in the layout also plays an important role in affiliate marketing. Another positive side effect is that a new layout also helps against banner blindness, for example.

Therefore, when designing or optimizing your blog layout, you should not only think of the readers and usability but also incorporate monetization.

And since this is not easy, I will soon publish my article on the subject of “Layout and Monetization”.
