This Is What Self-Employed People Earn Online - Is self-employment on the net worthwhile from a financial point of view or should you do something else if you want to earn money?

I followed up on this question a while ago with a survey among my readers.

In the following, I will evaluate this survey and look at what self-employed people earn on the Internet.

Difficult To Start, But A Lot Of Potential

This Is What Self-Employed People Earn Online

The fact that the self-employed are swimming in money is one of the many myths that one can still often find among the non-self-employed.

Instead, the life of a founder or a self-employed person is often much harder than is assumed and, especially at the beginning, there is not a lot of money around. I only had irregular and not exactly high income in the first few years. This is a tough time.

Later, however, self-employment offers the opportunity to further increase income and earn more than is possible for many employees. Especially when you are self-employed on the Internet, you can build up various revenue pillars.

In a survey a while ago I asked my readers how much they earn net from self-employment online.

This Is What Self-Employed People Earn Online

Here you can see the result of the vote:

What is your net income from self-employment on the Internet?

  • More than 5,000 euros per month (21%, 46 votes)

  • Up to 500 euros per month (18%, 39 votes)

  • Up to 1,000 euros per month (13%, 29 votes)

  • Up to 2,000 euros per month (13%, 28 votes)

  • Up to 2,500 euros per month (9%, 19 votes)

  • Up to 1,500 euros per month (7%, 14 votes)

  • Up to 4,000 euros per month (6%, 13 votes)

  • Up to 5,000 euros per month (5%, 11 votes)

  • Up to 3,000 euros per month (3%, 7 votes)

  • Up to 3,500 euros per month (3%, 6 votes)

  • Up to 4,500 euros per month (1%, 3 votes)

Number of participants: 215 (1 vote)

The result is a bit surprising, as 21% of the participants earn more than 5,000 euros net per month. This shows that it is possible to make a living from the Internet. There are many ways to make money online.

On the other hand, there are also 18% of the survey participants who earn 500 euros or less a month online. That doesn't have to be bad if it's a small part-time job. But there are certainly also many founders who only have low income at the beginning.

Otherwise, the income areas are distributed among the participants, even if it is noticeable that most of them earn a little less. 51% of the participants earn 2,000 euros or less per month. That is not enough for long-term independence. As a self-employed person, you have to pay for your retirement provisions, reserves for bad times, insurance, taxes, etc. from your net income. At 2,000 euros, there isn't much left in the end.

You can only become so successful if you are ready to plunge into your independence with full passion, commitment, and perseverance.

Restrictions

While this tuning is interesting, there are some limitations. Of course, I cannot guarantee that all participants have given the correct information.

Furthermore, there is of course a difference whether a participant has just started their own business or whether they have been self-employed for many years.

Another factor that was not taken into account is the question of whether it is full-time self-employment or just a part-time job.

A larger, more extensive survey would have to include all of these factors. Let's see if I will do such a bigger survey in the future.

How are you independent in the network?

  • I am self-employed on the net part-time (41%, 93 votes)

  • I am self-employed full-time. (32%, 73 votes)

  • As a student, I am freelance online on the side (10%, 22 votes)

  • I am not self-employed in the network. (9%, 21 votes)

  • I am unemployed and self-employed online (4%, 9 votes)

  • As a student, I am self-employed online (3%, 7 votes)

Number of participants: 225 (1 vote)
