| The Most Popular Sources Of Income - This Is How Self-Employed People Earn The Most On The Net |
There are many different sources of income in Germany these days. The increased diversity in recent years has meant that more and more self-employed people can make a living from websites and blogs.
But if you have the choice, you are also spoiled for choice.
- Which sources of income make sense?
- How much work do I have to invest in each case to make it worthwhile?
- Which sources of income fit together?
- What are the most popular sources of income?
So it's not that easy to make money out of it. Here you have to be patient, try a lot, and acquire know-how yourself.
But I can at least answer the last question in the list below.
Your Favorite Sources Of Income
Quite a while ago, I asked my readers what kind of revenue stream they put first.
A total of 431 readers took part in the survey, which shows how interesting this topic is for many of my readers.
Here you can see the result:
What is your number 1 source of income?
- Affiliate Marketing (56%, 241 votes)
- Google AdSense (20%, 85 votes)
- Own products, such as an eBook (8%, 33 votes)
- Paid articles (5%, 21 votes)
- Other (3%, 15 votes)
- Advertising (3%, 12 votes)
- Services (2%, 9 votes)
- Advice (2%, 9 votes)
- Member contributions (1%, 6 votes)
Number of participants: 431 (1 vote)
More than half of all participants (56%) prefer affiliate marketing. This is not that surprising, since affiliate marketing offers very good earning opportunities with low risk. However, the effort for implementation and optimization should not be underestimated.
But for me too, affiliate marketing is the strongest source of income, so I can sign the result of the survey.
After all, Google AdSense cited 20% as their favorite source of income. Beginners in particular like that AdSense is quick and easy to install and you don't have to worry about anything afterward.
However, the importance of optimizing AdSense banners is often underestimated here. Only then do they develop their full potential. I also use Google AdSense myself, but it's more of a small source of income for me.
The company's products, such as their eBooks, are clearly on the rise. Those who manage to manufacture their products and have the necessary reach can earn very, very good money with them.
However, the creative effort is very high here and you need a good name and a large range for it to work. That's why only 8% cited this as their number 1 source of income.
I have an eBook myself, which works very well and is, therefore, an important source of income.
In my experience, however, paid items are on the decline. Usually, you only get one-time money for it and Google now takes a very critical view of this, as often only a link should be placed with it. For at least 5% of the survey participants, these are nevertheless the most important source of income.
“Other” can include many things, such as paid links. At 3%, however, there are not many who primarily rely on it.
Also, only 3% live mainly from advertising. This source of income is one of the losers in recent years. The "watering can advertisement" is just too ineffective and therefore not worth it for many. You need a lot of traffic with the low CPMs.
For me, however, advertising is still an important source of income. I rent advertising space directly to companies that like the clear business orientation of my blogs.
In-house services and advice are the main sources of income for only 2% each.
A Membership site that requires attendees to pay money for information only generates the highest revenue for less than 1%. Here, too, a high level of awareness and a good reputation is very important for this to work.
The Future Of Revenue Streams
The results of the survey were unsurprising, but the question is, how is the situation developing?
- Are there new sources of income that will be usable in the future?
- Where are the existing sources of income developing?
- Which pillars should one rely on today?
Of course, these questions cannot be answered comprehensively in the context of this article. It is clear that the world is turning and new opportunities are emerging.
The company's products are in the advance and many self-employed people are discovering an interesting source of income in them. This is an exciting and often worthwhile thing, especially for self-employed people who have been active online for a long time.
The question is whether membership sites will prevail in Germany. It looks like this only works well in isolated cases.
Videos are one of the big trends and thanks to Twitch, YouTube, and online course portals, you can now earn good money with videos. Own webinars have also become a good source of income.
On the other hand, paid articles and advertising banners seem to be on the decline. These are either not permanent or simply not worthwhile for smaller projects.
How do you see the development of the sources of income and what specific experiences have you had?
I am looking forward to your feedback. More information on individual sources of income can also be found in my series of articles, Make Money Monday.
