My First Earnings On The Internet - Google AdSense, Affiliate Marketing, Advertising, and More - It was a long time since my first income on the Internet and of course, I also baked very small rolls at the beginning.

That's why I rummaged through my records and statistics and looked at the beginnings of my various sources of income.

In the following, I analyze my first earnings with Google AdSense, affiliate marketing, advertising, and more.

I created websites and blogs before hanifmr.com, but I didn't try to earn money with any.

And even Selbstaendig-im-netz.de was not intended to be a second pillar for income at the beginning. Instead, I wanted to blog about my experiences as a founder and self-employed person and try out a few online marketing measures that could be useful to me in my web design business. This also included testing sources of income.

In the following, I go through my different sources of income from back then and present you my first income with them.

Google AdSense

I earned a glorious 14 cents in February 2007 with Google AdSense. So I built AdSense into my blog right from the start.

In February 2007, my first month, I had exactly 100 visitors according to Semmelstatz. This is the statistics plug-in that I used for a few months before I switched to Google Analytics in June 2007.

In retrospect, the 14 cents certainly didn't throw me off my stool, but at least it was my first income.

And in the months that followed, Google AdSense revenue gradually increased. In July 2007 it was already 58.49 euros with 5,230 page views.

Affiliate Marketing

The positive development in AdSense income has probably prompted me to use other sources of income.

So I used Amazon PartnerNet for the first time in Affiliate Marketing and earned 1.01 euros in July 2007. So here too, very, very small rolls at the beginning. Nevertheless, that was also a first small step.

And it was cool to know that users bought a product on my recommendation and I get a commission for it.

A highlight in affiliate marketing was October 2007, when I earned 178 euros. The AdSense partner program, which still existed at the time, was responsible for this. Unfortunately, it was discontinued shortly afterward.

Link Rental

As naive as I was back then, I rented backlinks for money from July 2007. For that, I used teliad.de (today seedingup.de *).

At least 60 euros came in and it was a very lucrative and therefore tempting source of income back then. It still is today.

But on selfstaendig-im-netz.de I only used link rental for a relatively short time so as not to get into trouble with Google.

Paid Items

The paid articles that I got through Trigami (do not exist anymore) were still paid articles.

It wasn't about a backlink, but about introducing a product or a service.

I earned 44 euros with it in August 2007 and it was the first income from this source of income. After all, in August 2007 I exceeded the limit of 10,000 page views for the first time (10,883) and that was quite good for this source of income.

Over the next few years, the income from paid items was always three-digit, but this source of income was also very fluctuating. That's why I haven't published any paid articles for a long time, especially since today it's mainly about backlinks and this again offers potential for conflict with Google.

Advertising

In January 2008 I started renting out advertising space on Selbstaendig-im-netz.de directly to customers. That brought in an income of 30 euros that month.

The number of page views was 29,403 in January 2008, which is quite decent, a good year after the blog started.

Since then, this source of income has grown slowly but steadily and has become an important pillar for me.

In 2008, advertising revenues rose to mid-three-digit amounts and in 2010 for the first time to four-digit amounts.

Own Products

The last source of income that I introduced on Selbststaendig-im-netz.de was my product. It was my niche page-building e-book, which I published in March 2015.

And it was very well received, as I received € 5,672.14 from Digistore24 with the first payout. However, in March 2015 I had a completely different reach with 390,025 page views on selfstaendig-im-netz.de.

The income with the e-book naturally went down again after the start but has stabilized in a low four-digit range per month. You can't complain.

My Conclusion and Your First Income

It was very interesting to look back so far and "dig up" the beginnings of my sources of income. After such a long time, it's easy to forget what it was like back then and that you were also happy about small successes.

But these insights also show that everyone starts small and that it's not about getting rich overnight. It took me months to get into three digits and almost 2 years before I could get into four digits.

I was able to make a living from Selbstaendig-im-netz.de about 3-4 years after the start. It is therefore important that beginners persevere and show perseverance. Those who stick with it, put their heart and soul into it, and learn from their own mistakes have a very good chance of becoming successful.
