1. Show Ads
Advertising is the classic way to make money on a blog. The disadvantages are quickly found, however, because on the one hand more than 50 percent of the advertising is often blocked, which extremely reduces the income, on the other hand, classic banners always cause poor loading times. After all, they often still contain trackers and analytics codes.
To be honest, classic advertising is therefore only suitable for blogs with extremely high coverage with premium marketers or their own sales department, and the IVW is a must in this area to be able to provide really meaningful figures. Very few blogs, therefore, manage to finance themselves effectively and exclusively through normal banners.
2. Collect donations
Donations are currently popular mainly because YouTubers often generate very high income from them via Twitch. Since YouTube is often less than 1 euro per 1,000 clicks, this is sorely necessary. For bloggers, on the other hand, donations rarely work, the willingness to pay money for the classic form of reporting only seems to be present in isolated cases.
On the other hand, what is currently experiencing a real upswing are portals like Patreon, which bundle donations on one platform and also grant users extras, etc. However, there are only a few large numbers available there, and Germany in particular still has some catching up to do with such mechanisms.
It's a shame because community-financed platforms would be a new opportunity for content that never reaches the masses and that makes it difficult to refinance. In this way, the smaller, independent bloggers could maintain their quality without having to rely on clickbait or the like. The crowd is not important as long as the small community helps out financially. But donations only work very rarely and often only if a well-known or likable personality is behind the project.

On the contrary, it is aimed at old, serious players who are looking for serious and in-depth coverage. 3. Offer Services

For small blogs, however, this is rather difficult because a strong equivalent is often required for permanent payment, no matter how low the sum may be. In addition, a corresponding system has to be developed, there is support effort and much more. Anyone who offers a subscription should think carefully beforehand and plan accordingly. It's not just a matter of testing or trying it out.
In small US blogs, subscriptions for premium memberships have often become established. There are eBook downloads and exclusive articles there so that supporters simply get more of the same.
7. Use Affiliate Programs
Affiliate links, i.e. links to partner programs, work very well but are often seen more as passive income. A side item that can sometimes be part of the main income, but usually only brings pocket money.
Also, I always have slight problems with affiliate links because I have to trust the blogger. If I don't know him, however, such links often seem dubious because I can never be sure whether he will only recommend the product. After all, he will receive a commission. I tend to be careful with this and I would never overdo it.
Monetization Has Gotten Difficult
Refinancing a blog has become extremely difficult in the last few years. Most advertising is blocked and therefore not counted, direct marketing is only conceivable for niches with a large reach and, in general, there is already strong competition in every area. Making money on a blog has gotten tough.
But the combination of the different income opportunities brings success, at least if you ask me. Set targeted and discreet affiliate links, integrate little, but well-paid banners that do not interfere, and in the end maybe sell an eBook or something similar. By combining the various options, you compensate for the lower advertising income with classic banners.
However, there is no guarantee of success, because the Internet is changing and a real solution that puts the AdBlocker's lack of income into perspective has not yet been found.
