The Toyota Motor Corporation is the world's largest automobile manufacturer with a record value of 9.98 million vehicles sold in 2013. The origin of the corporate giant lies in the Toyoda Automatic Loom Inc. founded by Sakichi Toyoda, which became rich with the patent for automated looms.
In 1937, Sakichi Toyoda's son Kiichirō Toyoda, with his cousin Eiji Toyoda in Tokyo, founded the Toyota Motor Corporation, which is the eleventh largest listed company in the world according to the Forbes Global 2000 list (as of 2015).
Even before the company was founded, production of the first Toyota A1 model began in 1936. This was to be followed by more than 125 other models in various versions by now.
The luxury brand Lexus, founded in 1989, also belongs to the Toyota Group and the naming is intended to emphasize the exclusivity of the vehicles. At the beginning of the market launch, Lexus only produced premium vehicles of the upper class. Today the middle and compact classes are also served.

In terms of market value, Nissan is the third largest automobile manufacturer in the world and
has with Toyota, Japan's oldest tradition. This begins with the founding of Kaishinsha Motorcar Works in Tokyo in 1911. Founder Masujirō Hashimoto built his first automobile in 1914, which he named DAT after the initials of the investors.
From the name DAT came the later brand name Datson, which was then renamed Datsun. Nissan was actually just the ticker symbol of the holding group, which started mass production in 1933 through a merger in Yokohama.
At the same time as Nissan, the company continued to produce abroad until 1984 under the name Datsun. In 1985 vehicles were sold under the name Nissan Datsun, which are now very popular as collectibles.
