15 Google AdSense Tips For More Clicks and Higher Click Prices - Following on from my AdSense article from yesterday, I have collected a few tricks and tips for Google AdSense today.

Here, too, I would like to start by saying that these tips are no magic bullet and work anytime, anywhere. Here, too, you always have to test first and, if necessary, find the right ones for yourself.

Don't Hide AdSense in The Column

AdSense advertising is not remunerated by views, but by clicks. It is therefore important that as many visitors as possible be aware of the ads.

So don't hide your AdSense blocks on the right or below, but insert the code where it can be seen. It always worked well for me at the beginning and the end of posts.

First Ad With The Highest Click Prices

According to Google, the ads with the highest click prices are placed in the first AdSense block that appears in the code.

This block should be the most prominently placed AdSense block and not hidden somewhere to the right in the column.

AdSense in Content

The integration of AdSense blocks in the middle of posts has always worked very well for me. This can be done by hand, for example, with the “AdSense-Deluxe” plug-in.

I am currently using the Simple Ads Manager plug-in because you simply have more control over the position by hand.

Up To 3 AdSense Ads

Google allows up to 3 AdSense text ad units per page. If you have enough text in your posts, you should also use this and place an ad at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end of your posts.

If you only have short news articles, you shouldn't annoy your readers and only include 2 or one AdSense block.

Link Color

For most blogs and websites, blue will work best for the AdSense links. Blue is the learned link color for “normal” internet users.

AdSense Templates

The AdSense templates provided by Google are not recommended. Try to match the ads to the layout of your blog or website so that the AdSense blocks are not recognizable as advertising out of the corner of your eye.

1 Article = One Topic

If possible, limit yourself to one topic per post. The more focused the article, the more relevant the AdSense ads will be.

Narrow The Analysis Area

In this context, it is also important to limit the analysis area of the page for the Google AdSense crawler.

if you tell Google that only the text in between is decisive for the ads.

You can either do this yourself in your WordPress theme or, for example, use the WordPress plugin wp SEO *, which automatically sets these tags in front of and behind the article text.

Block Nasty Ads

Not all ads in Google AdSense blocks are really serious. Therefore, one should consider whether to filter out certain ad domains.

There is an option for this in the Google AdSense account. You can find a list of dubious advertisements here, for example, but I have only blocked some of them. You have to check for yourself whether you are blocking all of these URLs.

Many bloggers, including myself, have found that this filtering has also increased click prices. So it is worthwhile to “clean up” a bit here.

Watch Ads

You should also watch the ads in your previous articles. Are there many different advertisements or are the advertisements repeated a lot? Or even more and more only 1 or 2 ads appear in a 4-ad block.

This can mean that there are hardly any advertisers for this topic/these keywords. So rather rely on article topics and keywords that bring more ads and thus more competition and higher click prices.

Use Ad Channels

It is very important to have a channel for every ad. This simply means that you can see the statistics in the Google AdSense account for the individual channels and thus for each ad separately. Otherwise, it is hardly possible to compare the individual displays.

Text Ads are More Effective Than Picture Ads

Most bloggers report that they have significantly more clicks on text ads than on AdSense image ads.
I just can approve that too. So be sure to click on “Text Only Ads” when creating your ads.

More Traffic = More Clicks?

Of course, more traffic is always a good thing. If you manage to maintain the click rate, then of course the clicks on AdSense will also increase.

However, not all traffic is created equal. If you blog about popular and (let me say) adult topics, you will certainly get a lot of traffic, but your click prices (and certainly also the reputation of your blog) will suffer as a result.

However, more traffic is of course also good for AdSense income.

AdSense Ads Visible Immediately

Again, this falls under the heading “Don't hide advertising”. If the first AdSense block can be seen immediately after loading the page, that also increases the click chances.

As Few Other Links as Possible

I noticed this myself. Typically, the more other links there, the lower the AdSense ads' click-through rate.

Before I had my new layout, my CTR was almost double what it is now. Now I have significantly more links at the top and the visitors, therefore, have more alternatives.

That is why so-called “AdSense themes” are optimized to have as few links as possible, especially in the header.
The visitor should be the first to perceive the AdSense links if possible.

So that was the list of my AdSense tips. I have probably forgotten 1 or 2, but I will give them back when I remember :-)
